The president of Tabasqueños Unidos por la Diversidad y la Salud Sexual (TUDISEX), José Cruz Guzmán Matías, accused that the deputies of the outgoing legislature did not approve reforms in favor of the LGBTQ+ agenda for fear of losing votes, and that the new ones will have the challenge of doing so.

“The outgoing deputies did not approve them for fear of losing votes,” the leader assures without hesitation, calling on the politicians who will make up the LXV Legislature to discuss the pending needs of this community.

“The gender identity law is pending for our trans and non-binary colleagues,” he explained that it is necessary for them to be recognized with the names they adopt, in such a way that they can make their identity or gender expression changes, from the voter ID to any necessary personal document.

The president of TUDISEX emphasized that in addition to making these laws possible, whoever makes use of them must be able to count on adequate support.

“But above all, they should go through the entire process of support to achieve this change, psychological, psychiatric and hormonal treatment, and that should be within the Health Law,” he said, which is why a new law or reform to the Health Law would be necessary on the subject of care, prevention and control of HIV.

Guzmán Matías asks the incoming legislature not to follow the same procedure as the outgoing legislature of ignoring them and to meet with them to reach agreements.

“That is one of the challenges for the next legislators who will take office in this LXV Legislature to meet with us, not to be afraid, to know the agenda of sexual diversity and understand that we are equal, the only thing that makes us different is the exercise of our sexuality,” he concluded.
