After five days of blockade, ejidatarios living in the Puebla municipality of Tlahupan freed the highway and the Puebla-Mexico federal highway and a section of the Arco Norte, after several hours of dialogue with state authorities.
Javier Aquino, Secretary of the Interior of Puebla, said that the protesters and the authorities reached agreements for the payment of their lands expropriated for the construction of highways, at 3:30 in the morning this Saturday.
Then, the ejidatarios lifted their camps and cleared the way for dozens of trucks and cars that were still stranded.
According to the official, the protesters and their representatives will be received next Monday the 12th by federal authorities to follow up on their demands for payment.
The protest began because the residents demand payment for their lands expropriated decades ago for the construction of the highway, as well as for the Iztaccíhuatl-Popocatépetl National Park reserve.
