The Electoral Court of the State of Jalisco has endorsed the victory of Pablo Lemus in the last elections, making it official that he is the new governor of Jalisco.
This follows the challenges made by Morena in Jalisco, where they pointed out that there were various irregularities in the vote counts for the state governorship and the mayorship of Guadalajara.
Why was Morena’s challenge dismissed?
According to the project carried out by the presiding magistrate of the Electoral Court, Tomás Vargas, he explained that a statement had already been issued for the total recount of the votes regarding the governorship of Jalisco to be carried out.
However, it was noted that the Morena party in Jalisco failed to provide sufficient facts or conclusive evidence to sustain that alleged elements of the Movimiento Ciudadano party participated in the counting tables.
In addition, it was also dismissed that there were alleged irregularities in the ballots and electoral records of the elections held on June 2.
In addition to this, Tomás Vargas said that there were differences in the vote count from the figures originally presented, however this did not affect the final result, where Lemus took the victory.
“The vote did change, there was a reconfiguration in the count, in the case of Lemus the threshold of 5 percent that places him in another legal context because the result is no longer decisive,” explained Tomás Vargas, presiding magistrate of the Electoral Tribunal of Jalisco.
How were the voting numbers?
It was specified that around the valid vote in the elections held on June 2 was 3 million 667 thousand 673, where the MC party had one million 626 thousand 789 votes, which represents 44.25 percent.
On the other hand, the coalition Let’s Keep Making History for Jalisco received a total of 1,440,024 votes, which is 39.17 percent.
The difference in votes was 186,765, which represents a difference of 5.08 percent.
