The Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) continues to threaten officials in the state of Baja California, now it did so with María Elena Andrade Ramírez, head of the state Attorney General’s Office.
The organization led by Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, alias El Mencho, threatened the official with a narco-banner and with the remains of an animal that were left in a cooler, which were located in the kiosk of the Miguel Hidalgo park, in the center of the municipality of Tecate.
According to the Zeta Weekly, those responsible for these messages to the prosecutor were three subjects who arrived aboard a Honda vehicle, where two got out of the car and placed the blanket and the cooler, then fled.
“María Elena Andrade Ramírez, stop sending your dog, Juan Carlos Buenrostro Molina, to continue making agreements with the ‘CdS’ (Sinaloa Cartel). Keep turning a blind eye and we will retaliate!! Sincerely: CJNG,” reads the banner.
Semanario Zeta assured that the state prosecutor indicated that if the idea of the criminal group is to sow terror, “that is not going to happen.”
“We are always committed. I have more than 35 years working in security and justice, and we know what the position entails. We are aware that these jobs are risky and, as I said from the beginning, in this Prosecutor’s Office we have no commitments with anyone, not even my close team. We have solved important cases and we are working in a transparent manner; this is not going to stop us.”
“In our country, in our state, we have freedom of movement. Anyone can move around day or night without any police following them. These activities are carried out in a matter of seconds, whether with posters or banners. There have been arrests.”
“If the idea is to spread terror or fear, that is not going to happen. We continue with our work, a transparent work. If we have no commitments, we will continue working as we should,” Semanario Zeta quoted the prosecutor’s statements as saying.
It should be noted that Carlos Buenrostro Molina is identified as the right-hand man of prosecutor María Elena Andrade and has been linked to corruption activities in favor of the Sinaloa Cartel.
Angel Bujanda, former secretary of the Tijuana City Council, goes to the Attorney General’s Office after threats from the CJNG
The state prosecutor has not been the only one to receive threats from the CJNG, the former secretary of the Municipal Government of Tijuana, Miguel Ángel Bujanda, went to the facilities of the Baja California Attorney General’s Office to testify after a threatening message attributed to the criminal structure of El Mencho was found last weekend.
Local media reported that Ángel Bujanda arrived at the facilities of the Attorney General’s Office of the State of Baja California as a victim this Tuesday, August 13.
“The events where they threaten him must be investigated because, mind you, here the criminals are the ones who left the sign and the one threatened and the victim is the secretary,” said María Elena Andrade.
The mayor of Tijuana, Montserrat Caballero Ramírez, confirmed the resignation of Ángel Bujanda from his position in the City Council, indicating that the official was offered two options. On the one hand, he could request leave while the Prosecutor’s Office was investigating the events. The other would be to submit his resignation.
“He is a family man, he has three little children and his wife, and he said that he felt more at ease taking care of his family,” were part of Caballero Ramírez’s statements.
“Miguel Ángel Bujada, don’t play with the 4 letters, you’re already on your way out, you’ve already done enough with stealing, don’t get into trouble, we’re already here and we’re in full force. CJNG (sic),” said the threat against the then municipal official.
