This Saturday, August 17th, from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., the Pambazo Festival will take place in Julio S. Montero alley, between Canal and Esteban Morales, in front of the Atarazanas cultural complex, in the center of the city of Veracruz.

Luisa Juárez, creator of the event called “Orizaba, the Cradle of Pambazo,” said that the objective is to introduce gastronomy, especially prepared bread, to the new generations of Veracruz and other parts of the Mexican Republic.

“Pambazo is born in Orizaba and spreads throughout the region of Veracruz and also part of Puebla consumes it; so it is typical, because pambazo has been with us since we were children, since we were young people at parties, it is very well known, so why not make a festival for such a delicious and typical bread.”

He explained that although in various regions they have been adding elements, the traditional ingredients to prepare a pambazo are: soft bread sprinkled with flour, mayonnaise, beans with chorizo, lettuce, fresh cheese and to accompany it a chipotle sauce.

Sixteen people participate in the festival accompanied by their families who not only sell pambazos; they also offer other supplies such as coffee, honey, mole, cookies and bread from Xico, drinks such as Torito, mezcal and a variety of handicrafts.

The products are one hundred percent handcrafted, none are industrial or mass produced and their distribution supports the economy of the people who make them, some of whom come from the area of the High Mountains.

Access is free and attendees will be able to enjoy music and the Veracruz atmosphere. At the same time, the National Book Fair is held at the headquarters of the Veracruz Institute of Culture (IVEC), located a few meters away.
