Edgewell Personal Care to invest $110 million in Aguascalientes

Edgewell Personal Care, a multinational company from St Louis, Missouri, will invest 110 million dollars in a personal care and hygiene products factory in Aguascalientes, at a time when financial groups see high uncertainty and risks in the Mexican economy.

The American company, which produces articles for more than 25 brands of personal care and hygiene products, laid the cornerstone of what will be its first manufacturing plant in Mexico.

Edgewell Personal Care will supply clients such as Walmart de México, Soriana, Farmacias Guadalajara and Chedraui, among other chains.

“The relocation of companies, such as Edgewell Personal Care, continues to be a reality for Mexico,” said Sergio Argüelles, president and director of Finsa.

He said that the arrival of foreign capital is a sign of the confidence and competitiveness that Mexico has.

Finsa is building the industrial warehouse where the Edgewell Personal Care factory will be installed.

“Having companies like Edgewell Personal Care opens our horizons and expands our expertise in various sectors, which adds to the good reputation of the Mexican manufacturing sector and the quality of the workforce. Edgewell Personal Care, with 25 years, seeks to consolidate its presence in the consumer sector of Mexico and plans to generate around 1,300 direct jobs and 5,000 indirect jobs in the plant that will have 55,000 square meters.

The announcement of the investment and laying of the first stone was made known in a ceremony and meeting attended by Teresa Jiménez, governor of Aguascalientes, as well as Leonardo Montañez Castro, municipal president of Aguascalientes and Esaú Garza de Vega, secretary of Economic Development, Science and Technology.

Also present were Rod Little, CEO of the company Edgewell Personal Care; Russ Dorsten, global vice president of Operations; José Montes, global vice president of Human Resources, as well as Paul Hibbert, general director of Supply Chain.

Edgewell Personal Care has plants and offices located in more than 20 latitudes in North America, Europe, Asia and Latin America, and its products are available in around 50 countries.

The company is publicly traded and according to reports dated August, its net worth is 1.85 billion dollars.

The company owns brands such as Schick, Wilkinson Sword, Playtex, Carefree, Stayfree, Hawaiian Tropic, Banana Boat, Edge, Cremo and Billie, as well as the Wet Ones brand of wet wipes.

The Finsa Aguascalientes industrial park is made up of a surface area of ​​165 hectares, and today houses 20 companies and generates 5 thousand direct jobs.

The buildings are LEED certified, save on consumption during operation, have a water treatment plant, concrete roads, fire protection, natural gas, solar panels and LEED electric lighting.
