The arrival of foreign tourists in the State increases

During the first half of 2024, 1,822,725 foreigners arrived in Jalisco, a figure that represents a 7.4% increase compared to the same period in 2023, according to the report published by the Federal Government’s Migration Policy Unit.

“Without a doubt, the strategy implemented by the Government of Jalisco, together with the tourism trusts and the collaborative work with commercial allies such as airlines, tour operators and the route committees that we have with the Pacific Airport Group for the increase in international air connections, have resulted in this increase in the arrival of foreign tourists,” said Vanessa Pérez Lamas, Secretary of Tourism of Jalisco.

According to the report sent by the state Tourism Department, during the first half of 2024, 1,439,949 Americans arrived in Jalisco, a figure 8.2% higher than in 2023. During this same period, 310,910 Canadians arrived, 4.2% more than last year.

79% of the total number of foreign visitors were from the United States, while 17.1% were from Canada. They are followed by the United Kingdom, Colombia, India, China, Spain, Germany and Australia.

Recently, the airline WestJet announced air connections to Puerto Vallarta for the winter season from Canada. The flights will be to Abbotsford, Comox, Kelowna, Prince George, Vancouver, Victoria, Calgary, Edmonton, Regina, Saskatoon, Winnipeg and Toronto.

In addition to this, there will also be four new international flights with Alaska Airlines to Puerto Vallarta. Within this new opening of new markets, the efforts made by the Ministry of Tourism and the Puerto Vallarta Tourism Trust to establish a charter flight from Prague, in the Czech Republic, which will have flights from October of this year to April 2025 with a weekly frequency, stand out. The objective is to attract clients from the three main cities of the Czech Republic: Prague, Brno and Ostrava.

In addition, on September 13, the Guadalajara-Toronto route, operated by the Canadian Flair Airlines, will begin operating. It will be the second air connection that the capital of Jalisco will have with Canada.
