September 15: Celebrating the Grito de Independencia

San Miguel de Allende, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is an iconic destination to celebrate Mexico’s Independence Day. On September 15, the city transforms into a vibrant festive scene, beginning with the Grito de Independencia ceremony in the Main Plaza, where Miguel Hidalgo’s call for freedom in 1810 is revived. The cobblestone streets and colonial facades are adorned with lights and tricolor flags, while music and fireworks fill the air. It’s a time when locals and visitors come together to celebrate their history, culture, and sense of community.

NUMU joins in this celebration with an incredible dinner at NOIA, its exclusive terrace restaurant, which opened in August. With a 5-course tasting menu, this dinner pays homage to the traditional flavors of Mexico, reinterpreted with creativity and great gastronomic proposal by Chef Omar Tovar.

The menu offers a high-level culinary experience and presents delicacies such as croquettes with escamoles, crab sopes, tlayudas with grilled rib eye, and an interpretation of the classic mole, served with duck magret, fresh figs, and parsnip puree, to top it off with some exquisite air fritters, made with Amores mezcal, for a price of $1,750 pesos plus service per adult, and includes an optional national open bar from 8 pm to 12 am, for an additional cost of $850 pesos.

Children can also enjoy this special celebration with a menu for $750 pesos, which includes an open bar of soft drinks.

Fiestas de San Miguel Arcángel

Just a few days later, on September 29, San Miguel de Allende once again becomes the epicenter of a celebration that is almost 500 years old: the Fiestas de San Miguel Arcángel. This event, which honors the patron saint of the city, is one of the most deep-rooted and beloved traditions of its inhabitants.

The festivities begin with La Alborada, at dawn, the entire town gathers to participate in processions, traditional dances and a spectacular fireworks display, in addition to a wide variety of cultural and religious events that highlight the deep connection of the community with its historical roots. The night that marks the beginning of the festivities in honor of San Miguel Arcángel comes to life from the terrace of NOIA, with an incredible view of the city and the festivity.

From its terrace, you can enjoy the beauty of the celebration without missing a single detail, all in a cozy atmosphere, from where you can enjoy a hot drink and its exquisite menu, which make this experience truly memorable.
