Elements of the National Guard operating in the city of Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, managed to capture Carlos Alberto Monsiváis Treviño, “La Bola,” considered one of the most important leaders in the organizational chart of the Cartel del Noreste.

Through the arrest system it was confirmed that “La Bola” was arrested in flagrante delicto on the streets of Canteras and Pedregal in the Pedregal subdivision, one of the most exclusive and high-value places.

The time was 2:09 p.m. on September 2nd within a surveillance and inhibition operation against crime.

The location and arrest caused some neighborhoods near Pedregal to be closed, as well as the highway to the airport and Piedras Negras.

Although within the reports of insecurity there was no confrontation or pursuit between police and alleged criminals.

The criminal leader is at the disposal of the Federal Public Prosecutor’s Office belonging to the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime in Mexico City.

Monsiváis Treviño became a fugitive from justice in December 2022, when a federal magistrate acquitted him of the crime of organized crime.

He is considered one of the important leaders of the Cartel del Noreste and has generated violence in the states of Tamaulipas, Coahuila and Nuevo León by maintaining war with the Cartel del Golfo, Zetas Vieja Escuela, among others.

In addition, he is the nephew of Miguel Ángel and Omar Treviño Morales, “Z40” and “Z42”.

His predecessor was Juan Gerardo Treviño Chávez “El Huevo”, arrested and extradited in 2022 to the United States.

“La Bola” could also be linked to recent criminal acts such as the dozens of disappearances that have been recorded in the city of Nuevo Laredo, of students, construction workers, trailer operators and urban transport operators.

Recently, through social networks, the disappearance of a group of young people between the ages of 17 and 20 living in that border city was reported, but the families did not want to report the events out of fear.
