
The Government of the State of Aguascalientes, through the State Coordination of Civil Protection (CEPC), announced that due to the intense rains that have occurred this year in the entity, the rainfall recorded from January to August has already exceeded the amount accumulated in all of 2023.
So far in 2024, Aguascalientes has recorded a notably higher amount of precipitation than last year, since at the end of August 449.2 mm of rain was accumulated, exceeding the 353.5 mm recorded in all of 2023.
According to the National Meteorological Service, isolated showers are expected for this Sunday and Monday, however, some precipitation is forecast for the rest of the week.
In this regard, the head of the CEPC, José Eduardo Muñoz de León, invited citizens to stay informed through official media and take the necessary precautions to safeguard their integrity and protect their property.
He asked the population to avoid going out if it is not strictly necessary, especially in areas susceptible to flooding; not to cross rivers or streams that are flooding, either on foot or by vehicle; in case of a storm when driving, park in a safe place, turn off the vehicle and wait for the water level to go down; drive slowly and with the blinkers on, and avoid using overpasses.
He also recommended keeping public roads clean to avoid blocking drains and drainage systems; not taking shelter under trees; keeping important documents in a plastic bag; finding out about shelters available in case of emergencies, and reporting incidents or risky situations to 911.
