The Elota City Council again recommended the suspension of in-person classes at all educational levels, sporting events, training and minimizing daily activities, especially in public spaces, in view of the continuation of the violence that left 5 people dead last weekend.

In turn, the Autonomous University of Sinaloa ordered that in the southern part of the state, in view of the outbreaks of violence and to safeguard the integrity of the teaching, administrative and student staff in the municipalities of San Ignacio and Mazatlán, they will return to virtual classes.

It specified that the academic units of Culiacán, Cósala, Elota, Eldorado and Navolato will continue with the distance learning program, since there are no safety conditions for teachers and students to return to the classrooms.

In Elota, the authorities announced the educational establishments that decide to return to in-person classes. The municipal authorities instructed the school directors to notify the Public Safety and Traffic Department in order to coordinate security measures around the school buildings.

The municipal authorities of Elota, last Tuesday, gave their approval for the students in the municipal seat of La Cruz to return to in-person classes, assuming that the acts of violence would not be repeated.

Food packages distributed in Elota due to shortages caused by violence

Last Thursday, September 26, due to violence, in the most remote communities of the municipality of Elota, the shortage of food and supplies was felt due to a lack of supply. The city council and the state government distributed food packages among the population, waiting for the supply of products to be reestablished.

Omar Ayala Terrazas, Secretary of the City Council of Elota said that 800 new food packages were delivered to residents of the communities of Benito Juárez, El Salado, Paredones Colorado and El Limoncito, where there is a marked shortage of basic necessities.

He pointed out that due to the issue of security in the center of the state, the companies that distribute various foods and household products suspended their supply routes to rural communities, so families do not have anything to eat.

He announced that with the support of the state government, 1,600 food packages have been distributed in the rural communities of the mountains of his municipality, in the hope that supply routes to businesses will soon be reestablished.

Ayala Castro commented that in the municipal capital of La Cruz, nearly two hundred food packages were delivered to small merchants who are suffering from the shortage of basic necessities from producers.
