The passenger train trips of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec Railway scheduled for this weekend and the next few days in Veracruz, Oaxaca, Tabasco and Chiapas, were suspended due to the storms and rains that have occurred in the last few hours in the south-southeast region of the country. Currently, the Subdirectorate of Meteorological Studies and Forecasts of the Civil Protection Secretariat of the State of Veracruz maintains the Early Warning System (SIAT CT) active due to the interaction of a low pressure and trough in the Gulf of Mexico with the remnants of Tropical Depression Eleven – E that has caused intense rains throughout the territory, mainly in the southern region.
Although a slight decrease in rainfall is expected over the weekend compared to previous days, these will persist in southern Veracruz. In light of this, the Z Line that goes from Coatzacoalcos, Veracruz, to Salina Cruz, Oaxaca, and vice versa; and the FA line that goes from Coatzacoalcos, Veracruz, through the state of Tabasco to reach Pakal – Ná, in Palenque, Chiapas, and vice versa, were suspended.
The authorities in charge of the passenger train of the Ferrocarril del Istmo de Tehuantepec reported on the night of Thursday, October 3, through official accounts, that for the safety and integrity of users, the service is suspended “until further notice.”
“The Ferrocarril del Istmo de Tehuantepec informs you that due to the storm of intense to torrential rains that have occurred in the states of Veracruz, Oaxaca, Tabasco and Chiapas, and in order to ensure at all times the safety and integrity of our clients, the passenger train service is suspended until further notice,” reads the official statement.
