As part of actions against gender violence and attention to victims, the Municipal Police of Solidarity arrested an immigrant suspected of sexually assaulting a woman and attempting to hurt her with a machete in the Mayakoba development.
Preventive police officers arrived at Rosaleda Street where they detained Alexandre “N”, 41 years old, from Canada, who was holding a machete and threatening a woman who was on the roof of a residence.
The victim reported that she had been sexually abused by the arrested person.
The suspect was handed over to the State Attorney General’s Office for corresponding investigations and the victim received psychological support and legal advice from the Group Specialized in Attention to Family Violence and Gender (GEAVIG) of the corporation.
