Banana exports will generate 95.3 million dollars for Chiapas in 2024

According to the results of the Quarterly Exports by Federative Entity (ETEF) of the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI), in the second quarter of 2024, Chiapas reported an income of 349.3 Million Dollars (MDD)

The statistics show that, Chiapas, in the period April-June of this year with 1.4% together with, Campeche (56.4%), Tabasco (37.1%), Veracruz (4.5%), and Tamaulipas (0.6%), carried out the total exports of the subsector “Oil and gas extraction”.

Compared to the same period last year, exports this quarter, in the entity, represent a drop of -1.2%; however, they are an increase compared to the last quarter in which 311.9 million dollars (MDD) were reported in Chiapas.

In this second quarter, the entity ranked 29th in terms of total exports. With a percentage share of 0.3%.

In the second quarter of 2024, the value of exports by federal entity reached an amount of 139,354.2 million dollars. The participation of Chihuahua stood out, with 13.1% of total exports; Coahuila, with 12.7%; Baja California, with 10.3%; Nuevo León, with 9.9%; Tamaulipas, with 6.6% and Guanajuato, with 6.4 percent. Together, these states contributed 59.0 percent.

The data offered by the Ministry of Economy highlights that in 2023, the top three sales were distributed in: Bananas, Including Plantains, Fresh or Dried ($95.3 million USD), Coffee, Including Roasted or Decaffeinated; Coffee Husk and Shell; Coffee Substitutes Containing Coffee in Any Proportion ($70.2 million) and Figs, Pineapples, Avocados, Guava, Mangoes, Fresh or Dried ($27.5 million).
