San Cristóbal de Las Casas Mayor Fabiola Ricci Diestel presided over the opening of the new roundabout at the main entrance from Tuxtla Gutiérrez.
The project, designed to improve traffic flow toward the Explanada del Carmen, Traffic Arteries 1 and 3, and the cemetery area, involved a private investment of over 55 million pesos, with no cost to the public treasury.
As the three-lane interchange operates without traffic lights, traffic officers and municipal police are maintaining a constant presence at the site to guide drivers and remind them that vehicles already within the roundabout have the right of way.
Authorities urge the public to drive cautiously and obey traffic signs during this adjustment period.
