Hidalgo advances in industrial growth and ranks 2nd nationally

The Hidalgo industry continues to consolidate itself as one of the most important economic engines in the country, registering a 6.8% growth in its industrial activity from May to June 2024, with figures adjusted for seasonality. This increase places the state in second place nationally in industrial growth, well above the country’s average, which stood at only 0.4%.

Hidalgo’s progress during the first six months of the year is mainly due to two key sectors: construction, which experienced a notable annual growth of 23.8%, placing itself as the sixth state with the greatest increase in this activity, and energy generation, which registered an annual increase of 11.2%, placing the entity in fourth place nationally.

Furthermore, the annual comparison from June 2023 to June 2024 reaffirms Hidalgo’s strong position, registering a growth of 5.3%, surpassing highly relevant industrial states such as Nuevo León (4.9%), Guanajuato (3.2%), Querétaro (2.3%), Mexico City (0.1%) and Jalisco, which showed a contraction of -1.7%.

In the first half of 2024, the state industry accumulated an annual growth of 2.3%, a figure that is 1.6 times higher than the national average, which was 1.4%, confirming Hidalgo’s leading role in the country’s industrial development.

This growth is the result of the policies implemented by the Hidalgo government to encourage investment, promote infrastructure development and guarantee optimal conditions for the industrial sector. In addition, the state has strengthened its position as an attractive destination for new investments, which predicts a promising future for the local economy.
