5 beheaded bodies found in Mexico, latest grisly find in violence-plagued country

According to officials, five decapitated bodies were discovered by Mexican authorities in Jalisco state. This is the latest discovery of violence in the country. The victims’ heads were found in black plastic bags near Ojuelos in northeastern Jalisco, while their bodies lay nearby, partially clothed and with no heads.

This gruesome finding occurred close to Lagos de Moreno city, where numerous violent crimes have been linked to organized crime. In August 2023, five young people disappeared and were later tortured and murdered in a video shared on social media.

Jalisco Nueva Generacion Cartel (CJNG) is blamed for the violence in Jalisco state. Between January and September of this year, there were 1,415 reported murders in Jalisco. Since 2006, more than 450,000 people have been killed and tens of thousands have gone missing as a result of a surge in violence linked to drug trafficking.

Last week, the mayor of Chilpancingo city in Guerrero state was found decapitated shortly after taking office. The head of the victim was left on the bonnet of a pickup truck, according to local media. Mexico’s president has vowed to stick with her predecessor’s “hugs not bullets” strategy to combat crime at its roots and has pledged to tackle cartel violence through social policy.
