Ayutla becomes a ghost town; classes and other activities are suspended due to violence

Following a wave of violence that occurred this Monday, October 14, in the municipality of Ayutla, on the Costa Chica of Guerrero, educational authorities decided to suspend school activities at all levels this Tuesday, given that its inhabitants have chosen to take refuge in their homes, fearing new clashes between criminal groups operating in the area.

On Monday, the discovery of at least two dismembered bodies was reported in a parking lot near the Chedraui store, located near the central market. This discovery has increased the concern of residents, who also reported armed clashes between antagonistic criminal factions.

This day of violence preceded the announcement of the death of Felipe de Jesús Ceballos, identified as the leader of the self-defense group of the Union of Peoples and Organizations of the State of Guerrero (UPOEG) in that area, who was reported through social networks as allegedly being linked to criminal activities.

Likewise, the discovery of a second corpse in the center of Ayutla was reported, whose identity has not been confirmed, so in the face of this escalation of violence, elements of the Army and the State Police came to cordon off the area; however, reports of other alleged clashes between antagonistic criminal groups remain unverified.
