Don’t miss the Third Ceviche and Beer Festival in La Paz

Baja California Sur has a lot to offer in art, culture and gastronomy. So much so that next Saturday, from 1:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., the kiosk on the La Paz boardwalk will host more than 40 restaurants, gastronomic establishments and breweries from the state, with the Third Ceviche and Beer Festival.

According to David Gracia Hinojosa, president of the National Chamber of the Restaurant and Seasoned Food Industry (Canirac) La Paz and organizer of the event, “today we have more than 40 confirmed stands; we have 22 ceviche stands and 18 craft beer stands.”

“The most important thing is that not only established restaurants and carts are joining; but also cooking enthusiasts, families, and gastronomy schools, such as the Gastronomy Institute.”

Regarding the breweries; Of the 18 breweries, 16 are entirely made and produced in Baja California Sur, while the other two “are already at home, they have been here in the city for many years,” said the president of Canirac La Paz.

Gracia Hinojosa added that a competition will be held to determine which is the best ceviche and craft beer. Also, there will be a stand by the CRIT Baja California Sur, which will offer fundraising to continue providing support services to the population.

In this sense, the Ceviche and Beer Festival is a completely free and non-profit event; the participation fee for the establishments goes towards the expenses of the event itself. For example, in the garbage containers, the portable toilets, payment of the musical bands, among other aspects.

Likewise, the sale of products is kept under a regulated cost, there will be a maximum standard of 100 pesos for dishes and craft beers. All, to witness the diversity of flavors and styles of beer to satisfy your palates, from the most experienced to those who are just venturing into this beer world.

In its last edition, the head of the Secretariat of Tourism and Economy (SETUE) of Baja California Sur, Maribel Collins, highlighted that gastronomic tourism is a reason for travel and La Paz is gaining recognition as a destination with a constantly growing beer culture. Today, this is already a reality, emphasized Gracia Hinojosa.

Gastronomic festivals in La Paz and Los Cabos

Canirac La Paz only organizes this event around craft beer and seafood; however, there are other beer festivals to be held in the state. For example, the Baja Soul Fest, Pizza & Cheve Fest, Beer Fest La Paz and the Beer Fest Los Cabos. Thus, Baja California Sur is gradually consolidating itself as a renowned gastronomic environment at a national and international level.

In addition, this coming November 30, the state capital will experience the Sashimi Fest La Paz for the first time. The venue for the event, which promotes the gastronomic and cultural essence par excellence of the municipality, will be at the kiosk on the boardwalk.

It will begin at 6:00 p.m. and more than 1,500 attendees are expected, including the presence of breweries and craft beer tasting, according to Jesús “Chucho” Montaño Avilés, general coordinator of the festival.

Both in the past and the previous Ceviche and Beer Festival, its date used to be in July. However, due to high temperatures, starting with the next edition it will be held preferably in the fall; setting the tone for future events, which results in a fusion between the high season in tourism and a more pleasant climate for the enjoyment of the Choyera community and its visitors.
