IT WILL TAKE 30 DAYS TO REOPEN THE ORIZABA-PUEBLA HIGHWAY!

¡TARDARÁN 30 DÍAS PARA LA REAPERTURA DE LA AUTOPISTA ORIZABA-PUEBLA!
  • More than a day and a half after the landslide of dozens of tons of earth, mud, stones and trees that has a length of 150 meters, 12 meters high and 40 meters wide

Given the possible risk of another possible landslide or assaults committed by criminals, as a precaution and for the safety of each and every one of the users, Capufe personnel in coordination with elements of the National Guard Highway Division, through its “Carousel” operation, descended in the opposite direction to the motor vehicles that were stuck in vehicular traffic after the landslide that occurred in the area known as El Mirador on the 150D Orizaba-Puebla highway, leaving the expressway completely free until the morning of this Sunday, October 27.

More than a day and a half after the slide of dozens of tons of earth, mud, stones and trees that is 150 meters long, 12 meters high and 40 meters wide, the cleaning and debris removal work has not yet begun, given that the highway authorities are waiting for the release of permits, given the risk that the work represents.

Even said clearance work could extend for up to 30 days, since the dimension of the collapse is large, in addition to the fact that they must be carried out with great caution and under the supervision of authorities due to the possibility of the presence of vehicles buried in the rubble.

It is known that the elements of the National Guard began yesterday morning with the descent in the opposite direction of the vehicles and private vans as well as heavy cargo units, tourist vehicles and foreign public transport that were stranded on the 2100 Veracruz-Mexico expressway.

Through the “Carousel” operation, motor vehicles were evacuated from kilometer 231 to 246+300, where the La Estancia Clover is located, to incorporate traffic into the Acatzingo-Ciudad Mendoza descent lane, so that they could take alternate routes such as the Maltrata-Aquila-Guadalupe Fresnal-Temaxcalapa state highway, until reaching Cañada Morelos, Puebla.

Another alternate route is the Xalapa-Perote-Puebla highway, as well as the road that leads to the Pico de Orizaba Volcano through Magueyes until reaching the municipality of Atzizintla Puebla and then returning to Esperanza via the El Seco road.

The main alternate route is the federal highway 150 Orizaba-Acultzingo-Azumbilla-Tehuacán, which is completely saturated, so both the ascent and descent are very slow.

Even highway authorities have asked drivers of double-trailers not to drive on this federal highway 150, since the curves in the contraflow area are very sharp and several heavy-duty units have already become stuck and out of alignment, which have had to be removed with cranes, causing the closure of traffic.
