The Municipal Government of La Paz pays tribute to the baseball player from La Paz, Humberto Zárate Barboza, with an altar of the dead that was installed in his memory, within the facilities of the Municipal Sports Center (CDM) “El Piojillo”. The opening ceremony was led by the General Director of Inclusion and Diversity, Jehú Vázquez Savín, representing the Mayor, Milena Quiroga Romero.
He highlighted that Humberto Zárate Barboza lived his entire life in the city of La Paz, venturing into various sports from a very young age, his passion being baseball. A discipline in which he actively participated in multiple teams, in addition to being a precursor of clubs and leagues, as well as sports spaces, dying on the baseball field of the league that he presided over.
At the event, Juan Lara Guzmán, Municipal Director of Culture, commented on the importance of preserving this Mexican tradition, and emphasized that it has been in the interest of the Municipal President that the celebrations honoring distinguished personalities of the community, who have gone ahead on the path, be carried out.
It should be noted that the activities for the Day of the Dead will continue this weekend with the screening of the film “Coco” at the CDM “El Piojillo”; as well as a festival at the municipal cemetery “Jardines del Recuerdo”, on November 1 and 2, starting at 5:00 p.m.; and the closing of activities at the Municipal Arts Center (CMA) with the exhibition of altars, a gastronomic show and a cultural program, all events are free of charge.
