
In two years and 6 months, the people of Puebla have reported 28 bars for not respecting their prices when paying the bill. Among those with the most accusations are La Bici de Cleta, Clamatika or McCarthy’s, according to a request for information made to the Federal Consumer Protection Agency (Profeco).
Of the 28 complaints filed from 2022 to June 30, 2024, the establishments La Bici de Cleta, Barclays, La Casa de Frida and Clamatika accounted for 43 percent of the irregularities.
Which are the most reported bars?

La Bici de Cleta had four complaints before Profeco, because in addition to not respecting its prices on the bill, it also placed charges without the consumer’s consent and forced customers to pay 20 percent of the waiters’ tips.
In the case of Barclay’s, which is located on Juarez Avenue in the capital of Puebla, there were also four complaints for not respecting its prices and forcing diners to pay a tip.
Regarding La Casa de Frida, which has two branches in the municipality of Puebla, there were two complaints that they did not comply with the Federal Consumer Protection Law (LFPC) for not displaying their prices.
The bar La Clamatika, a place colloquially known for its micheladas with seafood, had two complaints for not respecting the prices displayed on the menu and providing misleading information.

Other bars in Puebla that appear on the list of complaints from Profeco are Cantabar Theoremas, Cantina Lomas, Cervecería Cholula, Cervecería Rosarito, El Puerco Lo Sabe, La Bichota, El Rinconcito, La Botana, Costera 11-11, La Escondida Beach, Las Piñas de Cholula, RapiChelas, Cantaritos, McCarthy’s, Micheladas & Litros ‘Una y Ya’, the karaoke POPTime Pub and The Oyster Bar.
Each of the 17 establishments mentioned only had one complaint for placing prices on the receipt other than those established, in addition to charging a mandatory tip or a commission that was not indicated on the menu after receiving payment. (CR)
