Over 150 Kilos of Drugs Seized in Mérida’s Residencial Pensiones

The Attorney General’s Office (FGR) discovered more than 150 kilos of drugs during a search at a house in the Residencial Pensiones neighborhood of Mérida.

Details of the Seizure

According to police sources, the FGR found:

– 154.1 kilograms of marijuana

– 790 grams of methamphetamine (known as “Cristal”)

– 1,640 kilograms of cocaine

– 110 units of psychotropic pills (phentermine and anfrepramone)

These substances have a significant commercial value.

During the search, authorities also found cash and utensils used for weighing drugs. Additionally, a .40 caliber pistol and .9 millimeter cartridges, exclusive to the Mexican Army, were discovered.

Arrests Made

At the time of the search, three individuals were present in the house:

– Ruth Abigail S.P., 29 years old

– Enrique Epitacio Eleuterio, 55 years old

– Wilberth Bautista Epitacio, 40 years old, who was carrying false identification under the name Fabián Alejandro Bautista Solís, also known as “El Bueno” or “El Titis”

Leaders of the Epitacio Cartel

Wilberth is the brother of Herbert Armando Bautista Epitacio, alias “La Hamburguesa.” Both are leaders of the Epitacio Cartel, which operates in Yucatán and has strong ties to the Isthmus Cartel. All, except for the woman, have served short sentences in the Mérida prison for drug trafficking.

The arrested individuals were placed at the disposal of the Attorney General’s Office and will be brought before a Control Judge to face charges related to health crimes and violations of the Federal Law on Firearms and Explosives.

Property Ownership

The property where the search was conducted, located at number 538, has been owned by Luis Antonio Hevia Jiménez since 1999. Hevia Jiménez, head of the Technical Secretariat for Planning and Evaluation, denied any involvement in the events and stated that he sold the property in 2020. The transaction was made before a notary, Attorney Luis Jorge de Atocha Carrillo Palma, then Notary Public number 68 of the State of Yucatán.

Hevia Jiménez claimed to be unaware of why the operation was not registered with the INSEJUPY, stating that it was the buyer’s responsibility to complete the procedure.
