The director of Public Works of the capital’s City Hall, Eustorgio Chávez Garza, confirmed that the second stage of the Paseo Esmeralda project, which aims to reach the Sanctuary of Guadalupe, will be put out to tender until 2025, once the financial resources are authorized by the Social Development Council (Codesol).

He mentioned that the second stage of the Paseo, as well as the construction of the Fray Diego de la Magdalena overpass, next to the temple of El Saucito or of Our Lord of Burgos, are contemplated in the plans of the current municipal administration.

In the first case, he recalled that the first stage of the Paseo Esmeralda, from Pascual M. Hernández street to Valentín Gómez Farías, has already been delivered. The second stage would be from Gómez Farías to the Sanctuary of Guadalupe with the same comprehensive approach of rehabilitating not only the vehicular surface but also the drinking water intakes, drainage discharges, sidewalks, lighting, burying overhead installations, renewing signage, etc.

At the moment there is no date for the start of the second stage of the Paseo, since it depends on the authorization of resources and the subsequent public bidding of the project.

Regarding the El Saucito slope, Chávez Garza said that it is a project that has already been reviewed and even released for construction, but that it still needs to integrate the vision and specific requests of the residents of the eighth neighborhood into a comprehensive improvement project for the sector.
