Samuel García criticizes Elon Musk for robot project with Donald Trump: “Let’s see how it goes”

After Governor Samuel García Sepúlveda considered American businessman Elon Musk to be a “compadre,” he now criticizes him in his speeches during public events.

During 2022, when the tycoon announced that he would build a Tesla Gigafactory in the municipality of Santa Catarina to produce some of its most economical models, the governor and his associates spread Tesla fever in the state, placing billboards, wearing clothes and accessories with the brand’s icon, even driving a Cybertruck.

However, in 2023, the announcement began to lose steam and questions arose about when the works for the construction of the plant would begin. Until Elon Musk himself declared that the investment in Nuevo León would be subject to the results of the elections in the United States.

This is because the now president-elect, Donald Trump, warned that he would raise tariffs on vehicles produced in Mexico. Although Musk supported Trump at all times, the imposition of more taxes is not convenient for the automotive business, so the Tesla project in Nuevo León is fading away.

What Samuel García said about Elon Musk

Although he has not officially spoken about it, the governor has already changed his position regarding this character because during a speech to state workers he criticized him.

“Many times bureaucrats are denigrated, there goes Trump and Elon Musk now saying that they are going to make a secretariat of robots. I want to see how it goes, to see how they deal when a citizen arrives, they are going to end up with headless robots.”

On repeated occasions, state authorities have been questioned regarding the project, however, there is still no definition.
