Mérida to Become a Cultural Showcase with La Víspera and La Noche Blanca

Local authorities have announced new details for the 2024 edition of La Víspera and La Noche Blanca, set to take place on Friday, November 29, and Saturday, November 30. The event will feature 500 local, national, and international artists and over 300 activities, transforming Mérida into a vibrant cultural showcase.

Event Highlights

The festivities will span the center, west, and south of Mérida, involving independent theaters, alternative cultural spaces, bazaars, traditional art galleries, and restaurants. Claudia Chapa Cortés, deputy director of Culture, emphasized the importance of music and art for Yucatán’s inhabitants, noting that La Noche Blanca maintains and expands this cultural legacy.

Inspired by a similar event in Paris, this edition will see the participation of 500 artists and more than 300 activities. Raquel Araujo, director of La Rendija, invited visitors to experience the diverse theatrical offerings, highlighting the interactive nature of citizen-initiated scenic spaces.

Venues and Participants

The event will include seven museums with various collections, 19 alternative spaces, 32 gastronomy exhibitors, and over 22 entrepreneurial projects. Notably, the Railway Museum will participate for the first time, offering tours and activities. The Museum of the Yucatecan Song will host an event dedicated to the farewell of the souls.

Special Offers and Activities

Municipal authorities encouraged people to visit the Olimpo Cultural Center to pick up discount bracelets for restaurants. Isabel Molina, a participant from the restaurant sector, mentioned that the event will feature diverse musical performances, starting with the Panucho Fair and including Argentine and Venezuelan food.

This year’s celebration will extend to different neighborhoods of the Historic Center of Mérida, as well as the south and the Caucel district, promising two days of cultural immersion and merrymaking.
