The Oxtankah archaeological zone, located north of Calderitas, will reopen to tourists on Monday, November 25, 2024, following the completion of preservation works. This site, known for its beautiful colonial-style church, has been part of the Archaeological Zone Improvement Program (Promeza).
Preservation and Updates
The National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH) confirmed the reopening, highlighting that the preservation of the infrastructure has been completed. Additionally, the network of trails has been updated based on new information gathered during the consolidation of the architectural reintegration and monuments of the ancient city’s squares.
Visiting Information
The archaeological zone will be open to visitors from Monday to Sunday, between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., with an entrance fee of 75 pesos. On Sundays, entry is free for the national public.

Promeza also benefits other archaeological zones in Quintana Roo, including Chacchoben, El Meco, Cobá, Kohunlich, Dzibanché-Kinichná, Xel-Há, Muyil, Chakanbakán, and Ichkabal, as well as the Paamul II eco-archaeological corridor.
