Armed group disappears seven people traveling by bus in Chiapas

Seven people, including two women and a child, who were traveling in a public service van in the community of 20 de Noviembre, municipality of Emiliano Zapata, Chiapas, were reported missing since last Sunday, reported the Attorney General of the State of Chiapas.

Through a statement, the Chiapas prosecutor’s office reported that it opened an investigation file for the crime of disappearance of persons committed by private individuals, against Magdalena “N”, 41 years old; Rosario “N”, 39 years old, Luis “N”, 45 years old, Emanuel “N”, 12 years old.

Rosario, Luis and Emanuel were family and based on the complaint of their eldest daughter, the search cards were issued.

In addition, there are three other people of unknown identity who are reported missing, who were traveling in the same vehicle.

Relatives of the identified people announced that the last time they had communication with the victims was by telephone, on the afternoon of November 23, when they were in the municipality of 20 de Noviembre.

According to information from the search files, the people were heading to the cities of San Cristóbal de las Casas and the capital, Tuxtla Gutiérrez, to make purchases.

Preliminary versions indicate that a few kilometers after having started the trip, a group of armed people aboard trucks blocked the passage of the bus and took the victims, while the vehicle in which they were traveling was abandoned.

Meanwhile, the Prosecutor’s Office assured that it will continue with the investigations and will continue to carry out the corresponding procedures in accordance with the Search Protocol.
