Plan for trains with connections in Guadalajara is presented

President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo reported that next year she will begin construction of the Mexico-Nuevo Laredo and Mexico-Nogales passenger trains, as well as the Mayan Train freight train.

At a press conference, the President highlighted that during the transition process, she began working on these railway projects. “There are two trains or two tracks, one to Nuevo Laredo and the other to Nogales, and also the Mayan Train freight train,” she explained.

On the route from Mexico to Nogales, Guadalajara will be used as a stopover station. In the 1980s, Jalisco was part of the Pacific Star Route, which left Guadalajara to Mexicali and is now only used for freight trains.

Military in construction

In view of the construction of the new Mexico-Nuevo Laredo, Mexico-Nogales railways and the Mayan Train freight train, the Secretary of National Defense (Defense), Ricardo Trevilla Trejo, assured that military engineers are participating, so the other missions assigned to the Army are not affected.

“In these works, the National Defense Secretariat participates with military engineering personnel, so the other missions assigned to the Army, the Air Force and the National Guard are not affected, especially those related to security, with the application of the DN-III-C Plan, with social work, it is not affected at all,” he declared.

Trevilla Trejo pointed out that they will continue to strengthen the country’s strategic infrastructure in close coordination with the Secretariat of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation and with the Railway Transportation Regulatory Agency.

He explained that they are going for the construction of just over three thousand kilometers of railways and that they will be carried out in four phases.

He indicated that they are also going for the rehabilitation that is being carried out by the group of engineers on 17 federal highways and 181 rural roads.

In Jalisco they see the project for passengers as viable

The passenger trains announced yesterday by the President of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, will be positive to increase tourism.

The director of the Guadalajara Visitors and Conventions Office, Gustavo Staufert, commented that this project will bring greater communication in the country. “The greater the communication, the greater the traffic of people and the greater the traffic of people, the greater the amount of tourism, how good that our roads are being reused both as purely tourist routes like the Guadalajara-Tequila route and to transport people from point A to point B and that we manage to get them to stay in Jalisco,” he said. The Secretary of Tourism of the State Government, Vanessa Pérez Lamas, highlighted that this project will increase the connectivity of both Jalisco and the country. “Trains are in fashion, they are back,” she said.
