After the first frost that was recorded last Monday, November 25, in the Altos region of Chiapas and in the city of San Cristóbal de las Casas, during these three days of cold season so far there are no reports of damage in communities of the municipality of San Cristóbal de las Casas, but the weather will continue to decrease, perhaps it could reach up to 2 degrees below zero, so Civil Protection personnel are waiting with the authorities of various communities and ejidos of this municipality.
In this regard, Pablo Reyes, director of Civil Protection in San Cristóbal de las Casas, said in an interview that fortunately there are no reports of damage to crops, vegetables and nurseries in each of the communities and ejidos of San Cristóbal de las Casas, but the temperature will continue to decrease and could reach up to 2 degrees below zero. The call, as always, is not to introduce braziers into the rooms because with carbon monoxide they could become intoxicated and it would be fatal.
“Indeed, we have not had any reports of damage in the city or in the communities. The corresponding rounds have been made, the first frosts have indeed fallen, the frosts of ice in the countryside, but we have not yet reached the very low temperatures of 2 degrees below zero. We continue to make recommendations for people to eat fruits and vegetables, to hydrate to avoid respiratory problems and not to put braziers inside their rooms or in their bedrooms to avoid carbon monoxide poisoning,” he indicated.
Finally, he said that in the region and in the city of San Cristóbal, the temperature will continue to drop, the cold will continue because in this season the climate will be very low. “The rains are behind us, now we are in the cold season, the day and night drop up to 4 degrees. We as Civil Protection are doing our job, we are carrying out corresponding patrols to help people who need it.”
