From Thursday, November 28 to Friday, December 6, San Cristóbal will host the Third International Festival of Cinematographic Arts, which promises to be a meeting point for lovers of the seventh art.
At a press conference, César di Parra, general director of the festival, reported that contemporary art films will be screened in various cultural forums in the city, with the seal of local, national and international filmmakers.
He explained that this edition aims to highlight the diversity and richness of cinema at a local, national and international level, with a special focus on works that reflect the cultural and artistic identity of the areas represented.
“We want this festival to be a bridge between cultures, a space where the visions of filmmakers from around the world converge,” he said.
The inauguration will be at the San Cristóbal de Las Casas Museum (Musac), at 6:00 p.m., and it will be exhibited in various spaces in San Cristóbal until December 6.
The screenings will be presented in venues such as the El Carmen Cultural Center; Culture and Recreation; Carlos Jurado Cultural Center; Paliacate, Cultural Space; Cultural Wapaní; Robot rock community; Casa de la Ciudad Teaching; among others.
After the festival is inaugurated, the documentary “Fractalis” will be screened, directed by Adrián Pallares, which evokes a symphonic musical journey that questions: What is our relationship with nature? Why are we living a pandemic? And what are we doing wrong?
Through dreamlike landscapes with celestial rivers, mantras, salt crystals, mandalas and delirious cacti, the short film generates a kaleidoscopic and rhythmic experience related to the fractal found in human artistic creation and in nature.
In addition, the event will not only offer screenings, but also workshops, roundtables and various meetings with filmmakers, becoming a space to reflect on the role of cinema in the representation of social realities.
