The Government of Guerrero, headed by Evelyn Salgado Pineda, in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture and the City Council of Taxco de Alarcón, announced the details of the 87th National Silver Fair.
This event will feature a cultural and artistic program aimed at celebrating the silver tradition of Taxco, known as the silver capital of Mexico.
When and where will the National Silver Fair be?
The event will take place from Saturday, November 30 to Saturday, December 7, 2024, so you will have a whole week to get a nice Christmas gift.
The opening of the fair is scheduled for Saturday, November 30 at 5:00 p.m. (local time) on the esplanade of Plaza Borda, located in the historic center of Taxco de Alarcón.
Throughout the week, activities will take place in different emblematic points of the city, such as the Taxco-Casa Borda Cultural Center and the esplanade of the former convent of San Bernardino de Siena.
A space for culture and tradition at the National Silver Fair
Aída Melina Martínez Rebolledo, head of the Ministry of Culture, reported that the fair will include artistic and cultural activities, exhibitions, workshops and shows designed for the whole family, with a special focus on Taxco children.
It was also announced that the calls for the 87th National Silver Competition 2024, the 42nd National Silver Floral Games and the election of the Queen of the LXXXVII National Silver Fair are now open.
One of the most anticipated events will be the La Factoría concert that will take place on Saturday, November 30 at 7:30 p.m., that is, after the inauguration.
A showcase of silver art
According to the authorities, the National Silver Fair is an opportunity for local and national artisans to exhibit their works, transforming silver into art and reflecting the historical legacy that has positioned Taxco as a world reference.
“With events like this, we not only promote our traditions, but we also strengthen tourism and the economy of the municipality,” said the municipal president, Juan Andrés Vega Carranza.
