Young Oaxacan woman will represent Mexico at the Stockholm International Youth Science Seminar 2024

After having participated in ExpoCiencias Nacional Sonora 2023 and obtaining the highest qualifying score, Aurelia Monserrat Santos Dolores, a graduate of Colegios Cruz Azul Oaxaca, obtained the accreditation to attend and present herself to international researchers at the Stockholm International Youth Science Seminar 2024 (SIYSS), in Stockholm, Sweden from December 4 to 11, being the only Spanish-speaking participant in this edition, proudly representing Mexico and Latin American scientific youth.

Aurelia Monserrat, an 18-year-old young woman from Oaxaca, is a graduate of Colegios Cruz Azul Campus Oaxaca where she completed her basic and high school studies, in which she stood out as a high-achieving student and for her notable career in the field of scientific research.

Since the beginning of her student history, she has shown a particular interest in the areas of knowledge in Health Sciences and the Environment, actively participating in various school projects, being recognized for her dedication and impact on the student community, as well as for her commitment to the advancement of scientific knowledge.

Among her most relevant projects is “Rainwater harvesting: an ancestral system in the present”, where she uses experimental methods to analyze samples of rainwater collected using a filter with activated carbon, to later facilitate its use in domestic activities as a strategy to address the great challenge that Mexico faces in terms of water scarcity, derived from a socio-environmental problem.
