With the national holiday festivities approaching, the Puebla City government, through the Municipal Institute of Art and Culture of Puebla (IMACP)—under the direction of Anel Nochebuena—presented an extensive program of free activities with general admission, including music, theater, exhibitions, and monumental projections.
Saturday 12: Museum Night, concerts, and videomapping
The Saturday program begins at 6:00 p.m. at the Ana Sofía Gallery with the opening of the Huey Atlixcáyotl poster and photography exhibition, complemented by the conference “Origin of Huey Atlixcáyotl: History and Tradition,” both with free admission.
At the same time, the evening program includes:
- Monumental videomapping: A visual spectacle projected onto the façade of the Puebla Cathedral to commemorate the 216th Anniversary of Mexico’s Independence. The projections will begin at 7:30 p.m. and will be repeated every half hour until 10:00 p.m. (available on September 12, 13, 14, and 16).
- Museum Night: The “Cuexcomate Among Candles” experience inside the world’s smallest volcano, accompanied by a free concert by the group Huitziqui (limited capacity).
- City Theater: Presentation of the short film and discussion series “Ink, Cinema and Printmaking.”
- Centro Cultural Nodo (4 Oriente 210): At 7:00 p.m., the Angelopolitan Philharmonic Orchestra will perform the program “Voices of the Renaissance” as part of the exhibition The Divine, Michelangelo the Renaissance Man (tickets available at the box office).
Sunday 13: Folklore, symphonies, and large-scale performances
Sunday will be dedicated to traditional music and the performing arts:
- City Zócalo: At 12:00 p.m., the Municipal Symphonic Band will perform, followed at 1:00 p.m. by the Tuna of the Mesoamerican University.
- City Theater: At 3:00 p.m., the play “Mexicanerías” will take the stage, a production combining dance, theater, and music, with free admission.
- University Cultural Complex (CCU): The “México Sinfónico” performance will be presented, bringing together an orchestra, ballet, and mariachi on a single stage (tickets available at the box office).
