This is what you will pay for water in Aguascalientes next year

The cost of water service in the city does not escape the increases that occur at the beginning of each year, so for 2025 the Aguascalientes Comprehensive Water Model (MIAA) is already preparing the increase that it will have for users.

Jesús Vallín Contreras, director of MIAA, said that next year the service would have an increase of 7 percent, so the domestic rate per month will be 258 pesos as of January 1.

According to the official, this rate is the one paid by 70 percent of users, which corresponds to the basic domestic rate.

Vallín Contreras justified the increase by pointing out the main factors that pressure the costs of the service.

“The main cost we have for the supply of water is electricity. Electricity, in 2024, rose 30 percent. Another important cost is the extraction rights that we have to pay to the National Water Commission, which also rose approximately 30 percent,” he explained.

He mentioned that other factors that impact the rates are materials for maintenance and inflation, although the increase in human resources will be limited to four percent next year.

“All that combination of 30 to 30 and the four or five percent will give us (the increase). We are estimating a 7 percent increase in the rate starting in January,” he said.

The head of MIAA highlighted that the most common domestic rate, currently 252 pesos, will go to 257 or 258 pesos.

“We know that it is not a strong increase, it is an increase that responds only to what we are having as an increase in costs,” he justified.
