With works by artists Esmeralda Torres and Gerardo Esquivel, Querétaro participates in the exhibition “México profundo. Herencias y futuro del arte mexicano” (“Deep Mexico. Heritages and futures of Mexican art”), held at the Museo Espacio del Macro Espacio para la Cultura y las Artes in Aguascalientes, within the framework of the National Meeting of Culture that is taking place in the capital of that state.

Torres contributes her work “El Paisaje podría” (“The landscape could”), a two by two meter diptych, painted with inks and natural products; while by the late artist Gerardo Esquivel, “Ícaro” is on display, an acrylic on canvas painted in 1985.

The exhibition invites us to interpret deep Mexico, giving voice to an art that emerges and is always present, and that allows us to rediscover cultural diversity, fusing ancient, modern and contemporary narratives that illustrate how each region has shaped its context in the history of regional art.
