Forbes also highlighted her career as former head of government of Mexico City and her academic training as a doctor in energy engineering, highlighting her impact in the political, economic and social spheres.
The Power Women 2024 list brings together relevant figures in politics, business, philanthropy, art and media, evaluated based on their influence, financial achievements and their impact on society. In the category of politics and governance, Sheinbaum shares the recognition with leaders such as Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission; Christine Lagarde, President of the European Central Bank; and Giorgia Meloni, Prime Minister of Italy.
Forbes particularly highlighted that Mexico, the twelfth largest economy in the world, is presided over by a woman for the first time in its 200-year history as an independent nation. It also took up Claudia Sheinbaum’s inauguration speech on October 1 in the Chamber of Deputies, where she emphasized the importance of female empowerment:
«Many of us were told a version of history since we were children, which wanted us to believe that the course of humanity was directed only by men. But little by little this vision has been reversed. It is time for women.»
The recognition underlines Claudia Sheinbaum’s leadership and global influence, consolidating her as a key figure in international politics.
