Accident on the Acapulco-Zihuatanejo highway leaves 2 people dead and 40 injured

An accident that occurred on the federal highway Acapulco-Zihuatanejo, early Monday morning, left a preliminary balance of two people dead and around 40 people injured, among them several children.

The accident occurred shortly after 5 in the morning, near the colony 20 de noviembre, municipality of Tecpan de Galeana, in the region of Costa Grande, and involved a passenger bus from a private tourism company, which came from the state of Michoacán to go to Acapulco.

Brigade members from different corporations of the three levels of government went to the site, to carry out first aid work and transfer the injured to nearby hospitals.

According to testimonies, the accident occurred due to the poor conditions of the road, which caused the truck to leave the road.

Elements and paramedics from the Red Cross, state and municipal civil protection, state police, the National Guard and state traffic, as well as experts from the State Attorney General’s Office, were dispatched to the scene to carry out the legal proceedings.
