The Executive Coordinator of the Hispanic Mission, Jesús Hernández Peña, warned that some two million Mexicans are at risk of being deported due to the threat of Republican Donald Trump. Those two million, according to Hernández Peña, are those who maintain an irregular stay in the neighboring country to the north.
Hernández Peña pointed out that the country is not prepared for an eventual wave of migrants. But it is not only the massive return, but also the imbalance that will be generated in the economic field, since by deporting compatriots, remittances will also collapse.
Only for Michoacán, this 2024 a historical remittance sending of over 6 billion dollars was estimated.
