The incidence of home robberies in Baja California Sur registered a slight decrease between January and November 2024, compared to the same period in 2023, according to data from the Executive Secretariat of the National Public Security System (SESNSP). This crime is mainly concentrated in the southern part of the state.
In 2023, 938 complaints were reported, while in 2024 the number dropped to 936, a minimal decrease. However, the municipal analysis shows an uneven distribution: Los Cabos and La Paz concentrate more than 75% of the cases, with 361 and 349 complaints respectively.
Regarding Los Cabos, Captain Christopher Jordi López Monje, director of Public Security, Preventive Police and Municipal Traffic, reported that during the security table meetings, crime incidence maps are analyzed to implement specific operations. These operations mainly seek to reduce home, vehicle and business robberies in the municipality.
“We have the crime of home robbery, business robbery, and vehicle robbery, but just as we have these crimes that are impacting us, we also have the response from the police and other authorities that work together and in a coordinated manner, which is why we have had some arrests resulting from these crimes,” said Captain Christopher Jordi López Monje, director of Public Security, Preventive Police and Municipal Traffic.
In contrast, the northern part of the state has a lower incidence of home robberies. In the municipality of Comondú, 126 complaints were reported, in Mulegé 68, and in Loreto 32 cases. These municipalities have a lower population density, which could influence the lower frequency of this crime.
