The State Government will launch a tender in January for the remodeling of the highway to Chapala in both directions.
The president of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, gave instructions for the Secretariat of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation (SICT) to transfer the rights of the federal highway to the State Government.

Pablo Lemus, Governor of the State, explained that the project includes urban renewal with hydraulic concrete from Periférico to a section between the El Chololo restaurant and Las Burritas de Moyahua.
“The idea is to gain two lanes in each direction, the installation of sidewalks, which is socially very important, a bike lane, which is also socially important, and the installation of lighting,” he explained.
He added that the rehabilitation is part of the preliminary work on Line 5 of the Light Rail.
“It is an urban renovation, of the image of the city so that when (visitors) arrive to the city they see a beautiful road, lined with trees, with sidewalks, safe, illuminated,” etc.
