Baja California Sur recorded a significant decrease in cases of missing persons during 2024 compared to the previous year, according to data from the National Registry of Missing and Unlocated Persons (RNPDNO). Search groups in the region have played a crucial role in efforts to locate people reported missing.
In total, the state reported 460 cases of disappearance, non-location and location of people, 122 less than the 582 recorded in 2023, representing a decrease of 20.9%. Of the cases reported in 2024, 360 people were located, although 17 of them were unfortunately dead.
Regarding the profile of the people involved, 186 were women and 274 men, which shows a higher incidence among the male population.
However, 100 people are still missing in the five municipalities of the southern Californian state. It is important to note that in recent weeks, search groups have activated files for locating people, many of them presumably victims of deprivation of liberty.
Regarding geographic distribution, Los Cabos and La Paz concentrated the largest number of reports, with 207 cases each. On the other hand, Mulegé registered 18 cases, Comondú 17 and Loreto 9. In addition, there are two cases in which the geographic location was not specified.
