The construction of the CDMX-Puebla-Veracruz train will still take time because the right of way in Puebla is not available, and the route is not 100% established.

During the morning press conference of the governor of Puebla, Alejandro Armenta, he explained that talks will soon begin to have a route and the corresponding right of way for the state.

“I had a call with the Navy to have a meeting with the Secretary of Infrastructure to begin reviewing the train route in order to clear the right of way that corresponds to the state of Puebla.”

“This is going to take a year or more than a year, so that once the right of way is resolved, the president can establish the construction process. To the extent that we have the project and we have the right of way released, the train project will materialize and for us it is a priority,” said the governor of Puebla.

Last October, Claudia Sheinbaum, President of Mexico, announced the new passenger train routes that will connect Mexico City (CDMX) with other states of the Mexican Republic.

The latest project announced by the president is to recover the “historical” CDMX-Puebla-Veracruz passenger train route. So far, there is no further information about this new route.

Why build a train?

The train is one of the most efficient modes of transport in terms of energy per passenger, especially if electricity from renewable sources is used
In urban areas with high traffic density, the train can relieve congestion by offering a fast and reliable alternative
Compared to other means of transport, such as cars and airplanes, the train generates fewer emissions of polluting gases, which contributes to sustainability and the fight against climate change
