Starting February 24, TAR Aerolíneas will operate two new routes that will connect the Querétaro International Airport (AIQ) with the San Luis Potosí Airport and the Felipe Ángeles International Airport (AIFA).
These two new routes from Querétaro will be added to the current offer of direct flights to Hermosillo, Mazatlán and Torreón, the airline confirmed through a press release.
According to the company, the air connection between the neighboring states of Querétaro and San Luis Potosí seeks to serve the business market of the region.
Meanwhile, the connection between AIQ and AIFA will act as an air bridge between the nascent market of the new airport and Querétaro.
Through both routes, the firm plans to generate a product for business tourism throughout the week.
The route from Querétaro to San Luis Potosí will have flights on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday; For the Querétaro to AIFA route, flights will depart on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday; in addition to the flights that will depart from both destinations in the direction of Querétaro.
In this regard, the Secretary of Tourism of Querétaro, Adriana Vega Vázquez Mellado, added that the new offer from AIQ generates alternatives to access new markets and more tourists.
“These new flights open up options in the markets of San Luis Potosí and Mexico City, and, without a doubt, allow us to be close to our potential tourists,” she said.
The Director of Consulting for Air Services Development at ASM, David Appleby, said that these new routes reflect the strategic planning to promote connectivity and growth. The increase in air services, he added, generates new business and tourism opportunities.
“The expansion of air services not only strengthens Querétaro’s position in Mexico’s airport network, but also opens up new opportunities for business, tourism and economic development. We are honored to have collaborated in this effort and we look forward to seeing the positive impact of these two new routes,” he said.
The AIQ is located between the municipalities of Colón and El Marqués. In mid-December 2024, it registered 2 million passengers, setting a record for the facilities’ services.
