Luis Castañeda Muñoz, President of the Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo Hotel Association, announced that for this long weekend, the first of the year, this tourist combination predicts an occupancy of 80 percent and compared to last year it is expected to exceed expectations.

He also assured that the cancellation of the Mexicana flight on the route to Zihuatanejo has not yet been reflected but it does affect.

However, he said that Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo has good connectivity with other airlines, which has helped that at this time, 17% of foreign tourists enjoy this beach destination.

“We have a lot of connectivity, we have three daily Aeromexico flights with large crews, we have Viva Aerobus and we have all the other airlines and even now the largest market we are receiving right now is foreign,” he said.

He mentioned that in addition to attracting national tourism on weekends that have been very good, there is 17 percent of foreign tourism from the United States and Canada that is enjoying the winter season.

In an interview, the leader of this association, which includes 25 luxury hotels, five stars, four stars and boutique hotels, commented that during the visit to Madrid, Spain to participate in the International Tourism Fair, they had the opportunity to see the air connectivity with Aeromexico and Delta, to present and reinforce the promotion of the destination with different international tour operators.
