After the country recorded a new historic 2.3 percent increase in remittances during 2024, Michoacán managed to position itself as the first entity with the highest receipt of foreign currency. This was reported by Heliodoro Gil Corona, who said that the 2024 records indicated that Michoacán received 5,643 million dollars in remittances.
The economist said that that year, Mexico received more than 65 billion dollars from Mexican migrants in the United States. Michoacán surpassed Guanajuato and Jalisco in the sending of US currency and placed first in the top ten entities with the highest income from remittances.
