This seal will certify products manufactured, manufactured or assembled in the country, promoting their recognition both nationally and internationally. In addition, it will ensure that they meet quality and sustainability standards, consolidating them as synonymous with excellence and commitment to responsible production.
Thanks to this seal, consumers will be able to easily identify those products that respect the values of national manufacturing and contribute to the development of the Mexican industry.
Requirements to obtain the certification
According to the decree published in the Official Gazette of the Federation (DOF), products that aspire to bear the brands Hecho en México or Made in México must meet certain requirements to guarantee their authenticity.
Although the inputs may come from other regions, the manufacturing process must be carried out entirely in the country.
The Ministry of Economy has established that the certification will be available to both individuals and corporations. To obtain it, applicants must present the required documentation and meet criteria that ensure their commitment to quality and sustainability.
Validity and compliance with the standard
The Made in Mexico label will be valid for five years. To continue using it, companies must request its renewal at least six months before its expiration.
However, obtaining the certification is not enough. Its improper use may lead to sanctions, including the revocation of the permit if the company does not correct the irregularities detected within 30 days.
A boost to the growth of the national industry
This initiative seeks to generate greater confidence in consumers, encourage the consumption of national products and strengthen strategic sectors such as textiles, automotive, agro-industrial and technological.
With this certification, the Ministry of Economy aims to consolidate Mexico as a benchmark for quality and competitiveness in the global market.
A symbol with history
This is not the first time that the Government of Mexico has promoted the Made in Mexico seal. The brand was created in 1978 with the aim of communicating to consumers that a product has been made by Mexican companies and with national labor, thus promoting pride and preference for what is made in the country.
However, over time, the use of the distinctive lost strength. Faced with the economic challenges arising from the COVID-19 pandemic and the beginning of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, the government decided to rescue the brand in 2022, reinforcing its presence as a seal of quality and an incentive for the consumption of national products.
With this initiative, Mexico aims to strengthen its industry, increase the competitiveness of its products in the global market and reaffirm the value of Mexican manufacturing as a synonym for quality, innovation and commitment to sustainable development.
