The Attorney General’s Office of the State of Jalisco confirmed that the human remains found in Teocaltiche do correspond to four of the eight police officers who disappeared on February 18.
The agency said that the relatives of the officers confirmed their identity; however, forensic tests and DNA studies are still being carried out at the Jalisco Institute of Forensic Sciences.
Last Tuesday, eight police officers from Teocaltiche disappeared when they went to Guadalajara to take their control and confidence tests.
The elements were identified as Guadalupe Durán Villalpando, 64 years old; Jorge Luis Rodríguez Cruz, 31; Ernesto Alonso González, 37; José Antonio Cruz Ponce, 22; Miguel Orozco Ramírez, 29; José Ignacio Jáuregui Pérez, 27; Gustavo Vivas Oropeza, 29; and Luis Isaac Morán Ruvalcaba, 22.
Also with them was the civilian, Luis Fernando Gómez Aguirre, 53, who was driving the van in which the uniformed officers were traveling.
‘The Vice-Prosecutor’s Office for Missing Persons in coordination with state and federal authorities maintains a search operation to find the other five people who have not yet been located, among them four elements of the Police Station and a civilian,’ the Prosecutor’s Office reported in a statement.
A day after the disappearance, the Prosecutor’s Office confirmed the discovery of black bags containing human remains. A cardboard was also found with the message: ‘This happens to me for working with Mario.’
Who is Mario González, the drug trafficker who causes terror in Teocaltiche?
According to investigations, Mario González, alias La Flama and/or Marito, is considered a drug lord linked to the Sinaloa Cartel.
His area of domain, Teocaltiche, was compromised some time ago by the entry of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) into the town.
Mario is the son of Mario González Gutiérrez, Don Mario, a close collaborator of Joaquín El Chapo Guzmán. When Don Mario died, his son inherited the plaza and maintains contact with El Chapito, Iván Archivaldo Guzmán.
