Young American dies after being rescued from his kidnappers by the Army in Michoacán

A 16-year-old boy from California, United States, died this Wednesday after being injured while elements of the National Defense Secretariat (Defense) were rescuing him from his kidnappers in Uruapan, Michoacán.

Around 7:00 a.m. this Wednesday, the young man, who was studying at the Instituto Morelos high school, was intercepted by armed subjects in the center of the city, who forced him to get into a van.

After the report of his kidnapping, elements of Defense and the National Guard managed to identify the car on the Uruapan-Ziracuaretiro free highway, which unleashed a chase that ended in a confrontation in the municipality of Ziracuaretiro, near the Municipal Pantheon.

In the exchange of bullets the teenager was injured and later it was announced that he died in a hospital while receiving medical attention.

It was his own educational institution that announced the news through its official Facebook page, lamenting this loss for his community and for his family.

One of the criminals also died in the crime, while three others were arrested, some with injuries. They were also taken to clinics for evaluation under extreme surveillance.

In light of what happened, the municipal president of Ziracuaretiro, Alberto Orobio Arriaga, stated through his social networks that the event is unrelated to the security that prevails in his district, in addition to regretting the death of the young student.
