A man died early Tuesday morning, February 25, on the Mexico-Querétaro highway, near the community of San Buenaventura, in the Tepeji del Río section. He was allegedly shot, as he was working as a security guard and a group of armed men allegedly tried to assault the trailer he was guarding.

According to the municipal police, they received a report about an alleged attempted assault in the vicinity of the Tepeji Industrial Park, in which one person died.

At the scene, a trailer and a vehicle, allegedly used as an “escort car”, were found with bullet impacts. In addition, the body of a lifeless person was found inside the vehicle, with bullet wounds.

The trailer operator informed the agents that armed people allegedly intercepted the cargo transport, trying to stop it, presumably with the intention of assaulting it. However, the driver did not stop and the criminals fired at the vehicle and at the vehicle that was guarding it. The attackers then fled.

Paramedics from Caminos y Puentes (Capufe) confirmed that the victim of the armed attack no longer had vital signs, so the Attorney General’s Office of Hidalgo was notified to open the investigation file.
